2 min read
International cricket’s return to Bengaluru after two years did not go well. The fifth and final T20 match between India and West Indies was abandoned due to rain, ending the series in a 2-2 draw.
Delayed Start and India’s Innings
The match scheduled at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, 17 October, started over two hours late. Continuous rain hampered pitch preparation, but eventually India batted first. In the first over, Abhishek Sharma hit a six but was also dismissed. In the second over, Ishan Kishan scored 24 runs with two fours and two sixes, giving the team a fast start.
Ishan and Naman’s Explosive Innings
After Ishan (30 runs off 10 balls), Sanju Samson added 16 runs, helping India reach 50 runs in just 17 balls. Captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 22 runs. Then Naman Dhir accelerated the innings by scoring 24 runs off 6 balls, including two sixes and a four. India scored 118 runs for 5 wickets in only 7.4 overs (46 balls).
Rain Halts Play Again
As Tilak Varma got out, heavy rain resumed. All players returned to the dressing room, and play could not restart. Ultimately, the match was declared no result after half the overs were completed.
