The Gurjar Sabha Haryana and 84 Pal Mahapanchayat held on Sunday in Tigaon, Faridabad, Haryana, made several important decisions to adopt simplicity in weddings and eradicate social evils. The Mahapanchayat was chaired by Hare Ram Chandila and included representatives from Palwal, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Greater Noida.
Key Decisions and Limits
To prevent extravagance in weddings, the Mahapanchayat set the following limits:
- Maximum 21 people for the meal (Bhat)
- 31 people for engagement ceremonies
- 11 people for the Maadha Jhankne (meal)
- Total 200 people in the wedding procession (Baraat)
In addition to these limits, it was decided to completely ban Godh Bharai (baby shower) and Preeti Bhoj (feast after ceremonies).
Digital Invitations and Card Number Restrictions
An agreement was reached to limit the number of wedding invitation cards to 100 and to adopt digital cards. This step aims to reduce unnecessary paper-card costs and promote environmental protection.
