The legal battle in the case of singer Jubin Garg’s death is taking a new turn. After Amritprabha Mahanta and Sandeepan Garg were granted bail by the Guwahati High Court, Assam Police has expressed its intention to challenge this decision in the Supreme Court.
Assam Police’s Response to Bail Order
Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP-CID and SIT chief of Assam Police, stated that an appeal challenging the High Court’s bail order will soon be filed in the Supreme Court. He said, “The process will happen very soon. Currently, the courts are on holiday, and as soon as they reopen, we will file the appeal.”
High Court Bail Order
The Guwahati High Court granted bail to Sandeepan Garg on Friday. The single bench of Justice Rajesh Majumdar issued the order after hearing the case. Special Public Prosecutor Ziaul Qamar informed that Sandeepan has been granted bail, while Mahanta was released on a bond of Rs 50,000. Both were arrested by Assam Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) in 2025.
Trial Progress
Gupta said the trial is ongoing in a fast-track court, and so far, 134 witnesses have been examined. The investigation began following Jubin Garg’s death in a scuba diving accident in Singapore on 19 September 2025.
