Experienced Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has been officially permitted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play domestic cricket. He was sidelined for some time due to a fixing investigation but will now captain Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in the final round of the Presidents Trophy Grade-1.

PCB Approval and Captaincy Details

After clearance from PCB’s Domestic Cricket Director, 34-year-old Rizwan has been allowed to participate in the domestic tournament. SNGPL’s Director of Cricket and former captain Mohammad Hafeez confirmed that Rizwan will take part in matches starting October 19 against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL). This will be his first domestic match since being previously barred due to the fixing investigation.

Interruption Due to Fixing Investigation

Rizwan was included in the team to captain SNGPL after being removed from the Test squad mid-series during the England tour. Following participation in team training sessions and meetings, PCB ordered him to leave the camp immediately and return to Lahore, citing the ongoing fixing investigation. During this period, SNGPL arranged a fitness test specifically for him, which other players were not required to undergo.

Plans to Play in Foreign League

Alongside his return to domestic cricket, Rizwan has expressed interest in playing in foreign leagues. Reports indicate he has signed with a franchise in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) and is awaiting approval of a No Objection Certificate (NOC). PCB generally does not issue NOCs for foreign leagues while domestic tournaments are ongoing, so it is expected Rizwan will receive clearance for the Nepal league after the Presidents Trophy concludes.
