A terrifying incident occurred at Panchvati Maidan in Ramnagar, Varanasi, on Sunday at 11 a.m. During the staging of the 200-year-old Ramnagar Ramlila, an elephant suddenly went out of control and attacked its mahout, seriously injuring him. This incident caused panic and chaos throughout the area.

Detailed Information About the Incident

At the time of the incident, the elephant threw the mahout down, causing immediate injury. The injured mahout was promptly admitted to the Trauma Center at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), where doctors are continuously monitoring his condition. The police immediately implemented security measures in the area and barricaded all routes leading to Panchvati Maidan.

Efforts to Control the Elephant

The local forest department did not have sufficient equipment to tranquilize the rampaging elephant. Therefore, the forest department and police called a specialist team from Gorakhpur. The team calmed the elephant by continuously throwing sugarcane in front of it, which kept it stable for some time.

The Tradition of Ramnagar Ramlila

Ramnagar Ramlila is famous worldwide for its unique traditions and the 200-year-old royal heritage. Members of the Kashi Naresh family and key characters often ride elephants.
